Ukraine needs a rapid and cost-effective reconstruction of war-damaged and obsolete buildings, while reducing the buildings’ high energy consumption and improving the living environment for residents. Factory renovation allows for a reduction in construction time and dependence on skilled labor, and ensures more consistent quality. Estonia can offer Ukraine its technology and practical experience, help adapt solutions to Ukrainian conditions, and train local engineers and construction sector specialists. The Zhytomyr dormitory pilot project allows for the creation of a replicable model in Ukraine that can later be applied to the renovation of many buildings.

Project objectives

The aim of the project is to implement and adapt Estonian factory renovation technology in Ukraine by renovating the Zhytomyr Polytechnic University dormitory as a pilot project and, based on this, creating an energy-efficient and repeatable renovation model suitable for Ukrainian conditions, which can be applied more broadly in the restoration of Ukraine's housing and dormitory stock.
