The direct beneficiaries of the programme are the fellows who have graduated from the programme, as it provides the necessary background knowledge for long-term professional work. Mikrokraad plans to offer scholarships to up to 15 Ukrainian students who are either civil servants, representatives of civil society or otherwise directly involved in the EU accession process in Ukraine (preference will be given to candidates whose work is already related to EU enlargement, but will also accept students with a clear potential in this field, upon reasoned request). In addition to their specialist knowledge, the programme will also enable participants to develop their general competences such as analytical, collaborative and problem-solving skills, ethics, self-management, etc.

Project objectives

The objective of the microcredentials program is to support Ukraine’s preparations for EU accession. The online distance learning program is designed for Ukrainian government and municipal officials, experts and activists who contribute to preparing the country for EU accession.

Actions and results

The program consists of three courses that are key to understanding the functioning of the EU:

1) „EU policy-making“ introduces the EU’s main institutions and decision and policy-making processes;

2) „EU economic governance“ provides an overview of governance and decision-making process in key areas of economic policy;

3) „EU enlargement“ focuses on the enlargement process and related challenges, relying on Estonia’s experience as relevant.

Upon completion of the program, Ukrainian officials, experts and activists will be equipped with knowledge and skills that enable them to lead and support Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
