Kristi Kulu to lead Education and Entrepreneurship Program at ESTDEV
Programme for Education and Entrepreneurship at the Estonian Centre for International Development (ESTDEV) are to be headed by Kristi Kulu, who until now has led international cooperation and development at the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences.
At ESTDEV, Kulu will be responsible for the design and implementation of projects related to education and entrepreneurship in Estonia’s strategic partner countries, both in Europe’s Eastern neighbourhood and in Africa.
“The quality and management of Estonian education is recognized throughout the world. Through development cooperation projects, we have shared Estonia’s best practices with our partners. Kristi Kulu brings her own extensive experience in organising international education projects and international cooperation to ESTDEV,” commented Andrea Kivi, Acting Executive Director of ESTDEV.
“Changes in education are key to achieving sustainable development,” Kristi Kulu highlighted. “Estonia’s portfolio of innovations in the field of education is diverse and extensive, and is gladly shared. It includes success stories ranging from putting new learning approaches into effect, to fully realised digital solutions.”
Kulu stated that it is also essential to remember that development cooperation is never simply one-way: “It is a partnership, and to participate in it is to engage in the highest possible level of expert knowledge sharing. This is where, both professionally and personally, the collaborative creation and implementation of solutions in foreign cultural and legal spaces is valued and reflected upon. Not to mention the shared joy of joint victories in an international team!”
According to Kulu, ESTDEV’s wide partner network is a wellspring of good conditions for exporting Estonian models and solutions. “The fact that other donors and international organisations approach us with offers for cooperation is a sure sign of the quality of our work. In the context of development cooperation, it is important that we share methodologies – the experience of not only what we do, but how we do something in order to make enduring changes in the partner country. One must also dare to share failures, because these, too, can offer valuable guidance to partner countries,” added Kulu.
ESTDEV has 10 ongoing projects in the field of education, which make up nearly a third of all ESTDEV’s ongoing projects. The total volume of projects in the field of education reaches over 2 million euros.
