According to World Bank research, by 2040, one in four Armenians will be over 60, meaning that a shrinking workforce will have to support a growing number of older workers. A significant portion of the population is currently employed in low-wage, low-productivity informal jobs, which in turn affects innovation and economic growth. In addition, Armenia is already one of the most disaster-prone countries in the Western Europe and Central Asia region. As extreme weather events become more frequent and intense, the demand for entrepreneurship skills is expected to grow in many sectors, including agricultural resilience, natural resource management, disaster risk management, and “green economy” sectors such as sustainable infrastructure and low-carbon manufacturing. Therefore, strengthening the links between environmental and entrepreneurship education is necessary to develop Armenia’s green economy.

Project objectives

Aim is to strengthen the green business ecosystem in the Republic of Armenia and promote circular economy principles within entrepreneurship education through reforms in the non-formal education system at the public schools.

Actions and results

With the involvement of partner organizations agrobusiness education game and extracurricular module will be developed, introduced in public schools and promoted for nationwide implementation.

The expected results are as follows:

1. Game-based learning method developed for non-formal education in public schools of Armenia (extracurricular groups methodology)

2. Enhanced non-formal education on environmentally friendly entrepreneurship/agribusiness in public school system of Armenia.

3. Education providers have increased capacity to deliver game-based environmentally sustainable entrepreneurship education
