The aim of the project is to contribute to the accessibility and quality of education in Moldova through the development of digital capacity. The project design is in line with Moldova's education strategy and addresses educational challenges in Moldova identified in international studies. The activities will be based on the best practices from Estonia and Europe at large, and will include analysis of the digital infrastructure of schools, activities to develop and implement digital pedagogy, interventions aimed at the development of digital learning materials, and activities to support the development of digital skills of pupils. The project partners in Moldova are the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, local universities and USAID Moldova (including their implementing partner Chemonics Internationals).

Project objectives

The aim is to contribute to the accessibility and quality of education in Moldova through the development of digital capacity.

Actions and results

  • Increased capacity of the enablers for digital transformation of education system. Developing model requirements for recommended hardware and software of school computers, presentation and network technologies relevant for learning digital skills and empoering teaching with digital tools.
  • Improved quality of e-services in education and upscaled penetration. Analysis of existing processess and digital services of schools, including lesson plan software, school web sites and other core process needs. Analysis of the use and need for development of the Student Information System (SIS), Elaborating business/technical requirements for interoperable service with the central education management information system.
  • Increased access to high-quality digital educational content. Analysis of situation and needs in digital publishing in Moldovan education, incl analysis of best practices internationally. Elaboration of the quality criteria, proposal for quality assurance and delivery method for digital textbooks.
  • Digital competence of educators improved. Introducing national framework for digital pedagogy of teachers and teacher educators, mentoring local universities on delivering specific trainings.
  • Developing lesson plans on different topics integrated with digital competence - per each subject and grade to support teachers in developing digital competence of students. Developing and piloting the digital competence e-test.
